WILLIAM M. NORRIS

William Moraell “Joe” Norris, 85, of Strong, met the Lord in heaven on Oct. 11, 2018, after a short illness at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Little Rock. Born Nov. 6, 1932, in Strong, he was the son of Davis Moraell Norris and Abbie Lucille Turbeville. He attended Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Strong for many years. He was a proud member of Local Union 798 for 65 years where he travelled to many parts of the country working as a pipefitter for pipeline construction. Joe loved spending time with family and friends. He loved being outdoors every day. He enjoyed traveling and pulling his travel trailer for new adventures. He was a beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather (Papaw). He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mrs. Dorothy Faye Hargett Norris; one son, Mr. Donovan Norris and his wife, Starlette, of Greenville, South Carolina; three daughters, Mrs. Lucretia Norris Coulter and her husband, Ed, of Mountain Home; Mrs. Ava Norris Jones and her husband, Scott, of Marion, Louisiana; Mrs. Teresa Norris Evans and her husband, Mark, of Spring, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Billie Pratt of Natchitoches, Louisiana; Mrs. Gail Green of Marion, Louisiana. Also surviving are ten grandchildren – Jason Norsworthy, David Norsworthy, Jessica Norris Fincher, Daniel Norsworthy, Kasey Jones Price, Morgan Norris Kelly, Ben Jones, Joseph Norsworthy, Anne Marie Evans Powers and Catherine Evans Bussey; and 18 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jason Norsworthy, David Norsworthy, Daniel Norsworthy, Joseph Norsworthy, Ben Jones and Madison Bussey (grandsons). Visitation will be Saturday, October 13 at 1 p.m. at Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Strong immediately followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Officiating the service will be Brother Danny Malone and assisted by Dr. Jason K. Norsworthy. Burial will follow at the Norris Cemetery. DON E. SMITH

Don Earl Smith of Hatfield, formerly of El Dorado, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018. Don was born July 14, 1958 in El Dorado and was the son of Aylmer and Rudelle Smith. He was a construction worker and worked as a pipefitter most of his working life. Preceeding him in death were his grandparents, his parents and a brother, Dennis Smith. Survivors include his sisters, LaJuan Smith Miller (Butch), Aylma Smith Williamson (Jim), his brothers, Tommy Smith (Vona) and Clifford Smith (Saundra) and numerous neices and nephews. Cremation services were entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home of Mena, Arkansas. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Eula Mae Cook was born Sept. 12, 1936 in Summerfield, Louisiana to Willie B. Davis Coggins and Eddie D. Levingston. She departed her life Oct. 6, 2018 at Oakridge Nursing Home. She was a member of First Baptist Church Cordell where she served in the Choir and the WMU. She was a former employee of Dixie Maintenance, Medical Center of South Arkansas and the late J. S. BeeBe. She is preceded in death by her father; sisters, Eva Nell Buggs and Gloria Coggins Tatum; brothers, James Frazier and John Levingston. She is survived by her mother, Willie Bell Coggins; sons, Mickey Murphy, Billy Murphy Jr., Patrick Murphy, Kenneth Murphy and Cedric Cook all of El Dorado; sisters, Annie Moore of El Dorado, Carolyn Morris of El Dorado, Willie Davis of El Dorado; brothers, Willie Coggins and Woodrow Coggins both of El Dorado. Public visitation will be from noon until 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2018 and the family hour from 6 until 7 p.m. at Sims Mortuary. She was born Nov. 4, 1973 in El Dorado to Tommy and Pat Goree Massey of Strong. She is preceded in death by her father, her grandparents, Cecil and Eunice Massey and Louis and Willie Mae Goree and numerous uncles and aunts. She is survived by her mother, three brothers, Bo and Timmy Massey of Strong and Jimmy Davis of Johnsville, three sisters, Charlie Massey (David Mitcham) and Shelia Rogers (Tony) of Strong and Betty Ann Williams (Hank) of Huttig, and numerous nephews and nieces. Visitation will be at her home, 3387 Pigeon Hill Rd., Thursday, Oct. 11 beginning at noon until service time Friday, October 12. Sonya Johnson was born July 29, 1960 in El Dorado to Vernon and Albertine Meeks. She was a member of Lee Chapel A.M.E. Church. Sonya attended El Dorado High School (Class of 1978) and was a former employee of Country Pride, Oak Ridge Nursing Home, Sonic Drive In, Northwest Avenue Laundry Mat and a volunteer with the Salvation Army. Survivors are her mother, Albertine Meeks of El Dorado; her husband, Dennis Johnson, Sr. of El Dorado; son, Dennis Johnson, Jr. of El Dorado; daughter, Alesha M. Blueford of Atlanta, Georgia; step-daughter, Sharon Welch of Strong; grandson, Braylon Williams of Atlanta, Georgia; step-grandsons Michael Welch of Strong and Marquis Welch of Little Rock; brothers, Vernon A. Meeks, Jr., of Alexandria, Louisiana; Anthony J. Meeks of El Dorado and Marvin J. Meeks of Palm Bay, Florida; sisters, Joyce A. Meeks of Hampton, Virginia; Janet M.
