Comedian Rodney Carrington to perform in El Dorado in May

Tickets on sale today

MAD is continuing to roll out announcements for upcoming shows and this week. The entertainment district added a show featuring multi-hyphenate entertainer Rodney Carrington to its 2024 schedule.

Carrington -- a comedian, actor, writer, country music singer-songwriter and author -- performed in the MAD entertainment district in 2019 and he will return with his new comedy tour at 7 p.m. on May 9 in the First Financial Music Hall, 101 Locust.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m.

Tickets go on sale to the public today, MAD announced.

As the name of the tour suggests, "The Greatest T-ts", the show is intended for mature audiences and will feature Carrington's signature blend of racy comedy and original songs.

"If you can handle raunchy comedy, then this show is for you. I don't get embarrassed too easily but Rodney's last show here had me blushing and covering my eyes," said Joanna Benson, MAD marketing manager.

"That being said, Rodney Carrington is one of the funniest comedians we've had at MAD. If you missed him last time, we're giving you a second chance," Benson continued. "His comedy is most definitely for mature audiences. You've been warned." A Longview, Texas, native, Carrington is a platinum recording artist who has released several major record-label comedy albums and three albums on his own record label, Laughter's Good Records.

Carrington's break-through came in 1998 with his major-label comedy CD debut "Hangin' with Rodney".

His next album, "Morning Wood", was released in 2000 and became Carrington's first gold-selling album.

Several top 10 comedy albums followed over the next few years, including "King of the Mountains", "El Niño Loco", "Laughter's Good" and two compilation albums, "Greatest Hits" and "The Hits", all of which continue to receive radio airplay and regularly place on the national Billboard comedy charts.

"Greatest Hits" became platinum-certified, Carrington's first, and reached number three on Billboard's Top Comedy Albums chart and number 11 on the Billboard Top Country albums chart.

"Here Comes the Truth", an album that was released in 2017, climbed to number three on the Billboard comedy charts, accruing tens of millions of streams on Spotify and even spawning a Netflix standup comedy special for Carrington.

When Carrington performed in El Dorado in 2019, he was riding on the wave of his most recent comedy album at the time, "Get 'Em Out," which had climbed to number one on iTunes.

His latest single, "Let Me In," was released in 2021.

"Make it Christmas", a holiday album that was dropped in 2009 features Carrington's original song, "Camouflage and Christmas Lights," a tribute to U.S. military servicemen and women that became a Top 40 country single.

Carrington also published a book in 2009.

"Rodney Carrington, Coming Clean" is laid out in an easy-going conversational style and observational humor that has become the hallmark of Carrington's live shows and albums.

From 2004 until 2006, Carrington starred in his own sitcom. The eponymously titled "Rodney" aired for two seasons on ABC.

The show mirrored his own life with title character, "Rodney Hamilton," who longed "to leave his horrible job in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and become a standup comedian."

Carrington also co-wrote and co-starred with country music great Toby Keith in the 2008 feature film, "Beer for My Horses", which won the Academy of Country Music's Tex Ritter Award.

Carrington has appeared on the American Country Music Awards and hosted the American Country: New Year's Eve Live TV special.

For his appearance in the music video for country music superstar Trace Atkins's hit single, "I Got My Game On", Carrington was named "Supporting Character of the Year" in 2007 by Country Music Television's Music Video Awards.

Ticket prices for reserved seating for Carrington's on May 9 show range from $49.50 to $119.50.

VIP tickets are available and include reserved seating and a post-show meet and greet/photo opportunity with Carrington. VIP tickets come with a laminate/lanyard.
