The Salvation Army is simplifying the process for donors to contribute during the Christmas season to its Red Kettle campaign.

Alongside the traditional red kettles and the familiar ringing bell, The Salvation Army has incorporated QR codes on Red Kettle signs, enabling shoppers to effortlessly scan with their phones to make digital donations. Major David Robinson of The Salvation Army stated, "We're hoping that the ability to donate through Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, and Venmo will make it even easier for donors to help The Salvation Army this year. As fewer people carry cash, this is a simple and convenient way to give, especially for our donors who do everything from their phones."

In its 133rd year, The Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign stands as one of the oldest and largest charitable campaigns globally. Annually, the campaign raises millions of dollars nationwide to offer year-round shelter for the homeless, meals for the hungry, financial assistance to struggling families, after-school and summer camp programs for kids, disaster relief, and various services for America's most vulnerable populations.

"We're excited to bring the Red Kettle Campaign into the digital realm with the Virtual Red Kettle," Robinson said. "This initiative not only aligns with the times but also underscores our commitment to making charitable giving accessible and convenient for everyone. It's a simple yet impactful way for people to join us in spreading warmth and compassion this holiday season."

The Salvation Army encourages the community to embrace this new opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of those in need.
