EPD: Woman robbed at gunpoint while trying to purchase 9mm

Teen charged in shooting incident; no injuries reported

The El Dorado Police Department is investigating after a a woman reported that she was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday evening while trying to purchase a handgun from an acquaintance.

At approximately 6:39 p.m. Wednesday, officers were called to the 1200 block of West Hillsboro in reference to an armed robbery.

A woman told officers that she had arranged to meet an acquaintance at Haygood-Neal Garden Apartments, 1315 W. First, to purchase a 9mm handgun for $250.

She said said that when she arrived at the apartment complex, the seller got into her vehicle and she handed him the cash for the gun.

The woman said he began to exit the vehicle without giving her the gun and she grabbed his hoodie and asked about the gun.

She said the suspect then brandished the gun she was attempting to purchase and pointed it at her, while a man wearing a face mask approached the driver's side window of her vehicle.

The second suspect was also wielding a handgun, the victim said.

While pointing the handgun at her, the second suspect, said, "Give me it," the woman told police.

The woman said that she was initially confused by the statement and upon realizing her confusion, the suspect demanded her purse, which contained $1,300 cash.

The woman said she complied and quickly left the area to call police.

The suspects were described as black.

The first wore a gray hoodie and sweatpants and the second, blue jeans and a purple and turquoise water-wash hoodie, the woman said.

Arrest

A male juvenile was arrested Wednesday on a warrant for aggravated assault in connection to a shooting that was reported two days earlier at Hillsboro Town House Apartments, 1600 E. Short Hillsboro.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

Officers were called to the scene of the shooting 3:20 p.m. on April 17.

A man told police that he was walking outside his apartment building when a "young black male" fired a shot at him.

The suspect reportedly said, "Don't be trying to (expletive) with women who don't want to (expletive) with you," before firing the shot.

The victim said he ducked and began running back inside his apartment when the suspect raised the gun.

He also noted that several people were gathered outside at the time and he "believed they were all there to jump him."

Police said the boy was identified as a suspect and a warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest. His age was not given.

Officers were called back to Hillsboro Town House Apartments just before 2 p.m. Wednesday in reference to a separate incident involving the boy and they took him into custody on the arrest warrant.

The juvenile faces additional charges in the unrelated incident, police said.

He was issued a citation to appear in Union County Juvenile Court on May 16 and he was released into the custody of his mother.
