El Dorado police are investigating a robbery in which an elderly man was reportedly accosted in front his residence, with the suspect making off with the victim’s wallet.

Officers were called to the scene just after 11 a.m. Monday.

The 80-year-old victim told officers that he was standing between two cars in front of his residence in the 600 block of South Madison when a man approached him from behind and told him not to move.

The man said he “froze up” as the suspect “patted him down.” He said the suspect ordered him to the ground several times, but the man said he was physically unable to comply with the suspect’s commands.

He said the suspect took his wallet, which contained more than $300 cash, and ran between two houses nearby.

The man was unable to provide a description of the suspect.

A police report did not indicate that the suspect was armed.
