Balloon release: The first annual Sickle Cell awareness balloon release was held Thursday at Simmons Bank, honoring Vemetric Smith-Foster, who died Oct. 22 last year. The balloon release is not only in memory of Smith-Foster, but also to bring awareness to the Sickle Cell disease. Smith-Foster worked at Simmons Bank for many years and yesterday would have been her 47th birthday.
