Junction City falls on road

HAYNESVILLE (La.) - Adrion Hardwell rushed for 135 yards and three touchdowns, as Haynesville (La.) topped Junction City 33-0 in a battle of border rivals Friday night.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Golden Tornado scored twice in a span of 85 seconds to take a 13-0 lead.

The Golden Tornado then capitalized on a turnover, as Hardwell scored on a 14-yard run while adding the two-point conversion to make it 21-0 with 11 seconds left in the half.

Hardwell then capped his big evening by scoring on touchdown runs of 53 and 58 yards in the third quarter to make it 33-0.

With 4:59 to play in the third quarter, the game was called due to inclement weather.

Lance Grider had a 3-yard run to open the game’s scoring at the 11:17 mark of the second period.

After a turnover, Edward Critton scored on a 38-yard run to make it 13-0 before Hardwell’s touchdown just before intermission extended the lead.

After missing the Smackover game two weeks ago due to an injury, Dhante Gibson returned and finished with 73 yards on 13 carries for the Dragons.

Jakiron Cook added 36 yards on 17 carries for Junction City.

Defensively, Jvacye Cook led Junction City with four tackles, including 1 1/2 for a loss.

Junction City will hit the road to open play in the 8-2A, as the Dragons will take on Strong in a battle of Union County rivals next week.

Haynesville (3-0) will play at North Webster (La.).
