El Dorado Service League to host masquerade ball

The El Dorado Service League is hosting their third masquerade ball, “Toast the Night Away,” Saturday at the El Dorado Conference Center.

The black tie affair event is the service league’s biggest fundraiser of the year and all proceeds will go towards helping the children of Union County, said Courtney Crotty, chairman of the ball.

The ball will begin at 7 p.m. and last until 11 p.m. Tickets for the event are $50 and include access to a beer and wine bar, heavy hors d’oeuvres, a live band and a silent auction.

“I know that this is a busy time of year for everyone but this gives people in the community an opportunity to go to an event that they’ll enjoy and not only will they enjoy themselves while at the event, the event directly benefits the children in Union County,” Crotty said. “So all funds stay local.”

Crotty said the ball has been wonderful in the past and that they are adding some new elements this year.

There will be a photo booth provided by Little Candid Camper for guests to take pictures in. There will also be a $20 diamond champagne toast at 9 p.m., for a chance to win a Murphy-Pitard diamond valued at $3,000.

The Burners, a Memphis based band, will perform live during the ball. The Burners’ music includes a Memphis sound with multiple music influences including Southern Soul, Blues, Jazz and the traditional country sound.

The conference center is catering the event.

Crotty said if people are interested in seeing items that will be included in the silent auction before the event, a lot of the items are posted on their facebook page.

Crotty said there are multiple ways people can buy tickets for the event including contacting any service league member. Anyone interested in buy tickets can also message the El Dorado Service League’s facebook page about purchasing tickets, buy them directly from their website or purchase them at the door.

Crotty said anyone interested in purchasing tickets can also contact her at 870-918-7300 or [email protected].

“People don’t have to wear masks, but with it being a masquerade ball, we do encourage people to wear masks if they would like,” she added.

The El Dorado Service League is a 501c3 nonprofit women’s organization whose mission is to serve the children of Union County.

Currently the league’s biggest project is providing Christmas for 150 Salvation Army Tree Angels this year. They also stay in contact with local councilors throughout Union County to supply basic needs for children in the school system.

They have a scholarship program for Union County seniors, where any senior can apply if they are going into a field that will directly benefit children. Three seniors are chosen every May for the scholarship, Crotty said.

Crotty added that they also partner with other nonprofit organizations throughout the year, including HOPE Landing and the South Arkansas Historical Society.
