Soul Food Community Dinner: Good Food for the Body and Soul

Honor: Main, First responders attend the fifth annual Sharion Bailey Whitlock Soul Food Community Dinner: Good Food for the Body and Soul event Saturday at the TAC House. Below, Veronica Bailey speaks during the event. The annual event is presented by Meet Me at the Court and The Bailey Family and was held at the TAC House. Educators, first responders and veterans were honored at the dinner, which included Union County Sports Hall of Famer Jimmy Howard delivering spiritual songs and hymns. Howard, an instructor with the KidsNGolf organization that provides golf classes to youth, honored youth golfer Ryan Burns who passed away last week. U.S. Army veteran Reginald Holly was named the 2018 Veteran of the Year and was honored during the soul food dinner. A memorial tribute was held for the late U.S. Navy veteran Thomas Smith II, who died in January 2017.
