Lyle Lovett, John Hiatt to perform at MAD

Concert set for February

Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt are returning to El Dorado for what a news release described as “an intimate acoustic evening” in February.

The two singer-songwriters, who both performed during the grand opening of the Murphy Arts District last year, will perform at 8 p.m. Feb. 17 at the First Financial Music Hall at the Griffin. Doors will open at 7 p.m.

According to the release, both artists are considered originators of Americana music.

Lovett, whose self-titled album debuted in 1986, was named Texas State Musician. He is a recipient of the Americana Music Association’s Trailblazer Award, a four-time Grammy Award winner and has produced 14 albums.

Hiatt is a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and has 24 albums. Over the course of a four-decade songwriting and recording career, Hiatt has penned songs that became hits for the likes of Three Dog Night (“Sure As I’m Sitting Here”), Bonnie Raitt (“Thing Called Love”) and Eric Clapton and B.B. King (“Riding with the King”).

Tickets will be available to artist fan clubs starting Monday, MAD members on Wednesday and the general public at 10 a.m. Nov. 16. Tickets may be purchased online at eldomad.com, by phone at 870-444-3007 or in person at 101 E. Locust St.
