City offices closed in

observance of Memorial Day

All administrative offices of the city of El Dorado, including the police and fire departments, will be closed Monday for Memorial Day. Police and fire services will operate as usual. The garbage pickup schedule will run a day later than normal.

Annual Kid’s Fishing Derby set for June 2

Logoly State Park has announced the Annual Kid’s Fishing Derby will be held June 2. The derby will begin at 7:30 a.m. and end around noon. The derby is limited to 50 contestants. This derby is free but registration is a must. The derby is open to children ages 5 to 15. Small children will be allowed to have an adult cast for them and/or bait their hooks. The fish must be landed by the child. Be sure to bring your own bait and equipment. Prizes will be awarded in three age divisions for the biggest, the smallest and the most fish caught. On the morning of the Fishing Derby, participants will meet at the playground to fill out registration forms. Logoly State park is located 6 miles north of Magnolia off Highway 79 on Columbia County Road 47, follow the park signs.
