Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony set for today

A Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the Home Depot on West 19th Street.

The program, meant to recognize all troops and veterans, will include the presentation of colors and wreaths, as well as the Honor Guard and a Memorial Day address that will include a list of casualties from Union County followed by taps and a salute.

All are welcome to join the event today. Officials from Union, Ouachita and Columbia counties, as well as those from El Dorado, Magnolia, Stephens, Calion, Huttig, Junction City, Norphlet and Emerson are expected to attend.

Project to add eastbound turning lane into Felsenthal NWR Visitor Center

Project plans are underway with construction schedules set to begin Monday to install an eastbound turning lane into the Felsenthal NWR Visitor Center off of Highway 82 West.

The project has a 60-day completion date and is subject to work Monday through Friday during regular business hours with the exception of weekends and federal holidays.
