El Dorado stops Magnolia to win tournament

MAGNOLIA - El Dorado walked away with its second tournament championship Saturday night. The Wildcats beat Magnolia 6-1 in the finals of the Magnolia Spring Break Tournament and improved to 12-1 on the season.

"The game against Magnolia was one of the most complete games we've played," said El Dorado coach Cannon Lester. "It was a packed house and a great atmosphere. I think they said it was the biggest crowd they've had at that tournament. It was a fun game to win."

El Dorado scored four runs in the fifth against the Panthers.

Adam Simmons was the winning pitcher, throwing four innings. He allowed no runs on two hits with three walks and three strikeouts. Daniel Johnson pitched the final three innings to secure the save. Johnson gave up a run on three hits.

At the plate, Chase Webb was 2-for-2 with two RBI and two walks. J.T. Turbeville was 3-for-4 with a run. Micah Haney was 2-for-3 with a walk.

On Friday night, the Wildcats blitzed Camden Fairview 11-1 in the semifinal. Brennan Smith ended the game in the fifth with a RBI single.

Jacob Boshears started on the mound and went three innings, allowing a run on two hits with two strikeouts. Webb pitched two innings, giving up one hit with four strikeouts.

Turbeville was 3-for-3 with four runs scored. Derek Jobe was 2-for-2 with three RBI. Noah Gaul was 2-for-3 with a RBI and Jared Rhodes was 1-for-2 with three RBI.
