PEARCY - El Dorado's soccer teams, fresh off winning championships in their own Simmons First/Larry's Pizza Invitational on Saturday, traveled to Lake Hamilton to open league play on Tuesday. Both teams returned home with victories.

The Lady Wildcats improved to 4-0 with a 2-1 win behind goals from Carson Henry and Aida Olmos. The Wildcats won the boys game 4-1 and upped their record to 3-0-1.

Despite the victory, Coach Neville Matthews wasn't impressed with the performance of the varsity girls.

"They played down to the competition. We didn't look good at all," he said. "I didn't expect us to make the game that hard. They didn't play up to their potential today. I'm not happy with the game we played."

Luis Torres scored twice for the Wildcats in the boys game with Emmanuel Olmos and Brandon Vasquez also finding the back of the net.

"The guys kept the momentum going from this weekend. They played hard," said Matthews. "The guys coming off the bench helped us a lot. Once we subbed in, the level of the game didn't drop off at all. I was happy with that.

"The guys are on the right track. We still have a lot to do but we're headed in the right direction. They're buying into the system."
