James Thomas “Jim” Welch, 77, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, July 6, 2018.

Jim was born November 21, 1940 to Paul and Velma Wallace Welch. He graduated from Junction City High School in 1958. He then proudly served his country in the Army for 4 years. He married the love of his life, Charlotte Uyvonne Sweet, in 1967. They had 2 children.

Jim was the “Lance Man” for 25 years. After retiring from Lance Snack Company, he worked in maintenance at Pilgrim’s Pride until his retirement in 2008. He continued to stay busy by volunteering at Junction City Elementary School and working as a courier for MidSouth Pharmacy Associates in El Dorado.

Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, cooking and sharing all the goodies he made, and traveling. His true love was God. He was most happy when he was sharing his testimony, and telling others about Jesus. He was a true Christian man, who loved the Lord and showed it by loving others. He never met a stranger, and you were always part of the family. He was a member of Blanchard Springs Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and church treasurer for many years. He always sat in the front row, and he loved making a joyful noise unto the Lord.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert Welch; and his nephew, Mark Welch. He is survived by his love of 50 years, Uyvonne Welch, his son, John Welch and wife Marla; his daughter, Angela Smith and husband Christopher, grandson, Cameron Reynolds; three granddaughters, Kimber Welch, Liana Reynolds, and Tori Reynolds; and three great granddaughters, Ella, Callie, and Luci, as well as a large number of extended family and friends.

A celebration of Jim’s life and love for his Savior will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Blanchard Springs Baptist Church in Junction City, Arkansas at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the memorial service from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family request donations in his honor to the Blanchard Springs Baptist Church Building Fund.
