Two El Dorado city officials were honored during the 84th Arkansas Municipal League Convention, which was held June 13 - 15 in Little Rock.

Mayor Frank Hash and Council Member Dianne Hammond were each recognized for their years of public service to El Dorado and to the municipal league.

Hash was the recipient of the Adrian L. White Municipal Leadership Award and Hammond won the Marvin L. Vinson Commitment to Excellence Award.

The awards are presented to municipal officials who have served with distinction and dedication to their cities and the AML’s boards, councils or committees for six and 12 years, respectively, and are named in honor of two former Arkansas mayors and AML officials.

White was mayor of Pocahontas from 1967 - 1974. He was a former AML president and vice president.

Vinson served as mayor of Clarksville from 1983 until his death in 2001. He also served as AML president in 1992 and 1993.

Hash is serving his second term as mayor. His mayoral term and tenure will expire on Dec. 31. Hash lost his bid for a third term during the May 22 preferential primary election.

Hash is a member of the AML’s Executive Committee.

Hammond has served on the city council since 2004 and is running for a 13th term in the General Election in November.

She is also a member of the AML’s advisory council for large first class cities.
