Vivian Taylor “Mrs. Kuz” Kuznietcow, 80, of Hot Springs, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018.
Born March 26, 1937 in Little Rock, she was the daughter of Sam T. Taylor and Vivian Vinita Taylor. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Walter Gregory Kuznietcow.
She is survived by her two daughters Sarah Walls (Todd) of El Dorado, Gayle Ashley of Hot Springs, three grandchildren, Amber Walls, Ruston Ashley and Addison Ashley and one great grandchild, Aiden Walls.
Known as “Mrs. Kuz” to her students, faculty and friends, she spent over 40 years educating the youth of Helena-West Helena, El Dorado, Huttig and Magnolia. Her belief that children are the most valuable resources we have was demonstrated by her many years of kindness, patience, and dedication to her students.
Vivian graduated from Arkansas Teachers College, now known as UCA, and began her teaching career at Central High School in 1960. During her employment with the Helena-West Helena school district she taught Physical Education, Science, Biology, Special Education and was the Dean of Students for seven years. She retired in 1991 and relocated to El Dorado. Not long after her move, she began substitute teaching in El Dorado which led to a full time position teaching Special Education. Before retiring in 2002, due to health reasons, Vivian had also taught in Huttig, and Magnolia, at South Arkansas Youth Services.
Vivian loved being a “Mimi” to her grandchildren, enjoyed camping and fishing, loved the Razorbacks and was always a supporter and volunteer with Special Olympics.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Oak Ridge Nursing Home in El Dorado and also Lakewood Healthcare in Hot Springs for the love, kindness and care they gave “Kuz” during her time with them.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24 at Maple Hill Cemetery in Helena. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Arkansas Special Olympics, 2115 Main Little Rock, AR 72114.
