Mike Dumas will be the speaker when the Kiwanis Club meets at noon Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church.

Dumas, president and CEO of the El Dorado-Union County Chamber of Commerce, has previously served as Union County Judge for 10 years and as mayor of El Dorado for 16 years. He is the chairman of the Ouachita River Commission and serves as church administrator for the First Presbyterian Church and Clerk of the Session. He was the director of Community and Economic Development for the Southwest Arkansas Planning and Development District and, prior to public office, he was News Director for KTVE Television in El Dorado Monroe. He and his wife have one son, David of Vicksburg, Mississippi.

Valerie White will be the guest speaker when the Civitan Club meets at noon Thursday at Antigua’s restaurant.

White got her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Harding University and master’s degree in nursing at the University of Arkansas. She later received her doctorate at University of Arkansas.

She’s been on mission trips to Nicaragua and Africa and is an active participant in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for fundraising for LLS.

Rotary Club of El Dorado will not meet on Monday due to the President’s Day holiday.
