Submissions sought for literary magazine

Submissions are being sought for Between the Lines, the online literary journal of South Arkansas Community College.

Stories, poetry and essays submitted by writers 18 years and older who live in Ashley, Bradley, Chicot or Union County in Arkansas; or Union, Claiborne or Webster Parish in Louisiana will be considered. Fiction and essay submissions must be no longer than 3,000 words; poems must not exceed 50 lines.

Submissions are due by Feb. 28 by email to editor Scott Larkin at [email protected]. Submissions may be edited at his discretion.

Free HIV testing to be offered Wednesday

In recognition of National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, the South Arkansas Fights AIDS office will be open from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Wednesday and will offer free oral HIV testing and test counseling.

The office is located at 526 W. Faulkner St., El Dorado and regular office hours are 10 until 11:30 a.m. and 1 until 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

To schedule an appointment to take an oral HIV test, call the SAFA office at 870-875-2099. Test results take 20 minutes, said Janet Beane, executive director of SAFA.
