Brian and Monica Nash, who decorate their home and yard on West Elm Street with Christmas lights every year, decided to raise money for The CALL this year.

For the past 14 years, Brian and Monica Nash have been decorating their home for Christmas as extravagantly as possible, but this year they have added a new component to their decorations: an option to donate to The CALL.

Brian Nash said they began decorating their home for Christmas when he and his wife were first married, “and it’s just gotten bigger and bigger every year.”

“It’s just a fun thing that I enjoy doing,” Brian Nash said. “Every year I try to think of something new to do to keep people interested and coming by.”

With the Christmas decorations on the outside of their home is a bucket that gives people a chance to make donations to The CALL.

Monica Nash said it was important to her to give people a chance to donate to The CALL, which is a faith-based nonprofit that educates, equips and encourages Christian communities to provide hope and a future for Arkansas foster care children.

“Brian and I don’t feel like the Lord has led us to open our home to foster, but we do believe he’s called us to help,” Monica Nash said. “And this was a way that we felt like we could give back to our friends who are foster families in the organization.”

Monica Nash, who is the church recruitment coordinator for The CALL, said they have received a few donations so far, but she would love to raise $500 for the organization.

“[The CALL’s] mission is to mobilize the church to open Christian homes for foster children and we believe that is a worthy cause,” Monica Nash said. “We love that the kids that are going into care are not only having their emotional and mental needs met, but also their spiritual needs, knowing that they’re in a Christian environment.”

Brian Nash said when he was a child, he used to go through the same neighborhood to look at Christmas lights.

“I always said when I grew up, I wanted to do the same thing,” Brian Nash said. “And I ended up living in the same neighborhood. I hope maybe a kid will see our lights and want to do the same thing when he grows up.”

Monica Nash added that as part of her job as the church recruitment coordinator, one of her jobs is to get churches involved with The CALL. One way she does this is by organizing the Union County coordinator for The CALL, Karen Langston, to speak to churches.

Monica said if a church or organization is interested in getting involved with The CALL, they should email her at [email protected].

To view the Nash’s Christmas lights or to make a donation to The CALL through their fundraiser, drive by their home located at 2210 West Elm Street.
