Three trucks collided Tuesday in an accident on Highway 82 that has led to an investigation from the Arkansas Highway Police.
“Basically, a log truck was passing a stopped trash truck and a chip truck, a commercial chip truck, drove up in between them and ran into the back end of the garbage truck,” said Lt. Jonathan Bailey of the Union County Sheriff’s Office.
The Union County garbage truck involved in the accident was stopped along its regular route on Magnolia Highway when it was struck by the chip truck. The log truck also received minor damage.
Bailey said the cause of the accident is still unclear. He said the Arkansas Highway Police would be conducting an inspection of the chip truck to look for mechanical problems.
The collision occurred at 7541 Magnolia Highway at around 9:15 a.m. Tuesday. Bailey said road conditions at the time of the collision were clear and dry. All three vehicles were eastbound. ProMed also responded to the accident.
Bailey said no one was injured in the accident, though one driver was transported to the hospital and discharged immediately. He said the investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing.
