Lady Wildcats score big in victory over Hot Springs

El Dorado sent 18 batters to the plate in the second inning and cruised to a 17-0 win over Hot Springs in a three-inning game at the El Dorado-Union County Recreation Complex. The Lady Wildcats improved to 13-11 on the season and travel to Magnolia today for a 5 p.m. contest.

Allyson Silmon was 2-for-2, including a two-run home run, with a double and four RBI as the Lady Wildcats pounded out 13 hits in two turns at the plate. Grace Murry was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Lea Jones was 2-for-3 with two RBI. Sydni Crisali had a hit and drove in three runs. Julianne Spencer and Ava Dunn both had hits and RBIs.

El Dorado scored three runs in the first before pushing across 14 runs in the second inning.

Payton Scarlet was the winning pitcher, allowing one hit in three innings.

SMACKOVER - The Lady Bucks committed four errors Monday and fell to Harmony Grove in non-conference action. Smackover dropped to 22-6 on the season and will play in the district tournament Friday at 4:30 p.m. against either Fordyce or Drew Central.

Harmony Grove's Kacie Reede held Smackover to just three hits in the game. She struck out eight, walkedk three and hit two batters.

The Lady Hornets scored a run in the first and another in the fifth before getting three in the sixth with a two-out rally. With two outs, a batter reached on an error, followed by a walk. Hunter Fletcher, next, stroked a three-run homer.

"Too many miscues tonight," said Smackover coach Dennis Steele. "You can't have those against a good team. But, we wanted to see good pitching. We saw some good pitching tonight. We know what we need to work on."

Abby Crawford had a double with Reagan Richardson and Sabrina Estridge recorded Smackover's other hits.

In the circle, Crawford gave up five hits with four walks and two strikeouts. Four of the runs were unearned.

Macy Turner was 2-for-3 to lead the Lady Hornets.
