RISON - Errors proved costly for Parkers Chapel on Friday as the Lady Trojans fell to Rison 5-1. The Lady Trojans dropped to 11-7 overall and 7-1 in league play.

Parkers Chapel committed six errors in the game, including three in the fatal fifth inning, when the Lady Wildcats scored four runs to break open a 1-1 contest.

“There’s a correlation to how you practice and how you play,” said Parkers Chapel coach Elliot Jacobs. “I think, now, the girls understand for us to play better we have to practice better.”

The Lady Trojans wasted a solid effort in the circle by Drue Thomas, who struck out 12 batters while walking just one in six innings. The freshman only gave up one earned run.

Thomas was 2-for-3 at the plate for PC, which managed five hits against Rison pitcher Kristen Hurst. Kenlee McAuliffee was 1-for-3 and drove in the Lady Trojans’ lone run, which tied the game in the top of the fifth.

Hurst struck out eight and walked four batters. Rison did not commit an error in the game.

Parkers Chapel travels to Emerson on Monday.
