The Agape House Children’s Home Inc. has announced the groundbreaking of their second home on the Agape House Campus.

The groundbreaking for the Hope House, a home for foster children that are 16 to 21 years of age, will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Agape House Children’s Home Campus, 1838 Morningstar Road, El Dorado.

This house will focus on preparing and supporting children to the age of 21 to insure they are able to transition to adult living instead of “aging out” of foster care at 18 without the skills and education to live a full and productive life.

Current plans are for the Hope House to open in August 2018. It will join the current house at the campus, the Alexander House, and provide a home for eight more children on campus.

“With the Hope House, our ministry will be able to support foster children from 3 years to 21 years of age. With our ministry’s emphasis on keeping siblings together, having children remain until age 21 doesn’t just benefit the older child, but their younger siblings as well creating stronger family units,” said Executive Director Shaneil “PJ” Yarbrough.

“This community has been so supportive of our ministry and it’s foster children. The Hope House is a further example of that commitment to care for these kids,” said executive board member Melinda Hays Gatheright.
