Arkansas State Rep. Sonia Barker, R-Smackover, will be the guest speaker at South Arkansas Community College’s Fall Commencement at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 at the El Dorado Conference Center. More than 225 graduates are in the class.
Barker, who represents District 7, is a member of the Legislature’s Education Committee; the Aging, Children and Youth, Legislative and Military Affairs Committee; the Workforce Education Excellence Task Force; and the Legislative Advisory Council for the Southern Regional Education Board. It is her first term in office.
A Southern Arkansas University-El Dorado alumna, Barker has been a public high school teacher for more than 20 years. She teaches oral communications, English language arts and drama; and coaches tennis at Smackover High School.
