Walter Pierce was born September 26, 1941 in Huttig, to the late Bob and Silvia Pierce. He attended Gardner High School where he graduated in 1960. Through the years, he was employed at several places including Georgia-Pacific, Missouri Pacific Railroad LP&B, and West Fraser were he retired.
On Aug. 25, 1977, he united in Holy Matrimony to Dorothy A. Pierce.
He departed this life on Nov. 5, 2017 at his home. he was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; two sisters and one son.
He leaves to cherish his wife of 40 years, Dorothy Pierce of Huttig; one daughter, Jovon Smith (Granville) of Strong; two sons, JaMarcus Thompson of Huttig, and Ronnie “Luke” Jordan (Shelia) of El Dorado; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Huttig. Internment will be at Huttig Cemetery.
