Preparations for deer season are officially underway

Ding! We all know that sound when we receive a text message. This was a text message I had been anticipating for almost two weeks.

I opened it and I saw a picture of a UPS box label.

My face lit up and my excitement exploded.

I squealed and said, “Yes, yes, yes.” My new bow had arrived. I quickly replied back and told him I would be by later to look it over.

I opened the end of the box and pulled out plastic, stuffing, manual, the free hat, sport bracelet and finally laid eyes on the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.

Black limbs, red and silver accents, silver and black braided strings and a sleek black hand grip.

I just admired her for a moment and just couldn’t believe she was mine.

After waiting on her to arrive, I was so happy to have her in my hands.

I even hugged her.

My new Hoyt PowerMax Blackout Edition was here.

It was the best Mother’s Day gift a girl could get from her husband and son.

She was so light and the draw was so smooth.

I was looking forward to the transfer of my arrow rest and sights.

I was anticipating getting to shoot her for the first time.

I admired her for a little longer and told him I would be back the next day with my other bow.

To say that I was more excited than a kid at Toys-R-Us was an understatement.

I had a smile on my face that you could not take away.

Brent and J.B. took my sights and arrow rest off of Bessie and put them on my new girl, Black Betty.

After the install of my peep sight and my draw length set to the correct length, I took to the range.

It was the smoothest and quietest shot I have ever made.

Black Betty was shining like a diamond.

She looked fierce, but she needed something extra.

I saw a set of barbed wire shaped vibration dampeners on the shelf the week before and I knew that is what she needed.

Blaze orange and cobalt blue were not suited to fit her.

The addition of the silver pewter colored set of these vibration reducers made her beyond perfect.

She looked like a million bucks once they were put on her limbs.

After shooting a few times, I adjusted the sights and I was hitting 8s, 9s and 10s on the target.

Black Beauty is now ready for deer season.

I cannot wait to take her to the woods come fall.

Diamonds, jewelry and pedicures are so overrated as mother’s day gifts.

I want to thank Brent and J.B. at Slingin’ Arrows for helping me and doing such a wonderful job of getting my new bow set up and ready for fall.

You guys are amazing and do an awesome job!
