Change of venue for concert series

Due to inclement weather, tomorrow’s Murphy USA Summer Concert Series has been relocated to the El Dorado Municipal Auditorium. The “Showdown at Sunset” outdoor performance has been cancelled.

Tropical Storm Cindy, now a tropical depression, has been dumping rain across the Gulf States and the southern U.S. since Wednesday. According to weather forecasts, the probability of rain is high. El Dorado and surrounding areas were put on a flash flood watch Wednesday evening.

“Due to the chance of inclement weather, the concert was moved inside to the auditorium”, said Brumley, executive director of Main Street El Dorado. However, Brumley asserts the show will still go on.

The municipal auditorium has seating for 1,711. The first band takes the stage at 7pm. Volunteers are asked to be there at 5pm to help setup, with VIP entering at 5:30pm. “The doors open at 6:30pm, if you want to get a good seat,” says Brumley. General admission is free and on a first come first serve basis. Memphis bands The Side Street Steppers and The Burners will take the stage before headliner Jason D. Williams performs at 8:45 pm. Flying Tamales Catering will provide a Memphis style BBQ.
