John Charles Hastings, 83 of El Dorado passed away Friday, June 30, 2017 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House.
Born November 16, 1933 in El Dorado, he was the son of Charles E. and Clara B. Smith Hastings.
Mr. Hastings was a 1951 graduate of El Dorado High School and later received his B. S. degree from LSU. He served in the U. S. Air Force as pilot retiring after 23 years. Mr. Hastings was a member of First Presbyterian Church in El Dorado.
Preceding him in death along with his parents was a sister, Julia Jo Burris.
Survivors include his wife Helen J. Hastings of El Dorado, a son, Charles David Hastings (Cynthia) also of El Dorado and a daughter, Vikki Lee Hosford of Host Springs Village, AR. Also surviving is a sister, Virginia Atherton of Brookhaven, MS and grandchildren, Michael Nordin, Aaron Hastings and Carly Hastings along with 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 6, 2017 in Young’s chapel. Interment will follow in Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors with full military honors.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Young’s.
