A new community based outpatient clinic for area veterans finally opened its doors to the community Thursday.
The 10,000-square-foot facility at 1702 N. West Ave. replaces the existing clinic at 514 E. 5th St. Clinic hours have not changed. According to a news release from the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System, the VA-staffed clinic is accepting new patients as well as those already enrolled. The clinic phone number is unchanged and staff can be reached at 870-875-5900.
The release said the new clinic is continuing with the VA’s highly-successful patient aligned care team model that provides each veteran with personalized care emphasizing prevention and health promotion from a team consisting of a medical provider, registered nurse, licensed practical nurse and a medical support assistant.
“We thank all of our southwest Arkansas veterans for their service to our country; it is our privilege to serve them and to see to their health care needs,” said Dr. Margie Scott, Medical Center director. “We are very excited about this transition and the future of veteran care in El Dorado.”
The clinic was originally supposed to open in early October, but delays pushed the opening date back twice. The facility is leased by the health system and owned by SI Property Investments LLC.
