Eclipse Viewing 2

Nancy Whitmore, left, with straw hat, looks through one of her cereal boxes repurposed as a safe way to view Monday’s eclipse – a pinhole box. Whitmore, physical education professor at South Arkansas Community College, invited those attending SouthArk’s eclipse watch party to view the astronomical phenomenon to view the eclipse, with safe glasses and with boxes of varying sizes. Whitmore made several pinhole boxes – some large enough for children to view the eclipse sitting in the box – to others made with cookie and macaroni and cheese boxes. She also provided ‘moon pies,’ and ‘Orbit’ and ‘Eclipse’ chewing gum.
