El Dorado's football team posed for pictures Friday morning and had a light day that afternoon. Coach Scott Reed said the Wildcats had a solid first two weeks of practice but they need to step it up a notch on Monday.

"I think we're in good shape, right now. But, we need to take another step forward next week. We really do," said Reed. "I hope to see, by next Friday, some spots we need to clear up a little bit. There are some spots, right now, where we're rotating two or three different guys. We need somebody to come to the top. I hope to see some of that by next Friday.

"The work has been good. I feel like we're where we need to be, right now. But, next week is going to be real important."

The Wildcats had a sooner-than-usual scrimmage last Tuesday, which passed the physicality test with flying colors. The rest of the week didn't grade out as well.

"We did kicking game and just kind of worked some of the guys who are working both ways," Reed said of Wednesday's practice. "We did not have a good practice Thursday. That was probably the one practice we've had in two weeks that I didn't think we executed very well. I didn't think we were focused."

After taking pictures and interviews Friday morning, the afternoon practice focused more on the younger players. The coach anticipates a rise in intensity this week.

"Monday being the first day of school, we'll spend a lot of time on kicking game and then we'll probably scrimmage some again on Tuesday," Reed said.

The annual Meet the Wildcats program will be held on Wednesday, beginning at 4 p.m.
