Great Lakes: Kyle Maxwell answers questions from Gardener-Strong Elementary School students at the Boys and Girls Club during an Earth Day lecture on Thursday. Great Lakes Solutions, (a Chemtura Business) sponsored the event in recognition of Earth Day, which is officially Saturday. Over the two day period, over 500 Union County fourth grade students had the opportunity to learn about a natural resource here in Union County, known as the Smackover Limestone brine reserve that serves as a resource for the products produced by Great Lakes Solutions that benefit consumers world wide. The students also saw demonstrations of how the brine is extracted and other Earth Day and chemistry related discussions that made the day a fun and learning experience.
