Billy J. Cabaniss, 86, of El Dorado, passed away Monday, April 4, 2016 at Hudson Memorial Nursing Home.
He was born April 23, 1929, to Bonnie Cason and Nora Murphy Cabaniss in El Dorado.
He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a lifelong follower of Jesus Christ and spiritual leader of his family. All those who knew him would agree, he was the most humble and kind person. Flying was the only job he ever knew. He was licensed to fly at the age of 15, before he could even drive. He did everything from crop dusting to training Air Force pilots and retired as manager of aviation from Murphy Oil Corporation after 25 years of service. Bill had a lifelong love for dogs and cats, anything that showed up at his house never went hungry. He raised ducks, geese, quail, and loved all wildlife. His property was the envy of the Magnolia Highway with beautiful flowers.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Sue Goodwin Cabaniss; his son-in-law, Ronnie Dumas; sister, Betty J. Buck; and brother-in-law, Robert E. Buck.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Susan Dumas of El Dorado; son, Joe Cabaniss (Joanne) of San Antonio; grandson, Jamie Dumas (Lisa) of El Dorado; granddaughter, Ashley Belt (Randy Joe) of El Dorado; and four grandchildren, Delaney Belt, Lexi Belt, Kasey Dumas, and Riley Dumas, all of El Dorado.
Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 9, at Young’s Chapel with Kay Ruddell officiating.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the service time on Saturday. There will be a private family burial.
