Department taking applications for mobility program

The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department is now accepting applications for the Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities Program, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department officials.

The Section 5310 – Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities Program, provides capital assistance in the form of discounted vehicles to agencies providing transportation services to seniors and individuals with disabilities.

An electronic copy of the application may be obtained by accessing the Department’s internet site: ArkansasHighways.com. Click on the menus “Programs” “Public Transportation Programs” “Federal Programs/Applications” Section 5310 Application link.

Once under the appropriate application, scroll down to the “Application Period” heading. Applications are available in Microsoft Word format.

Agencies may also request an emailed electronic copy by calling 501-569-2471.

The funding will only be available if Congress finds a fix for the debt ceiling and addresses long term transportation needs, according to a news release from the AHTD.

Applications are available and must be received by the department no later than 4 p.m. on April 20 at the following address. Applications received after this date may not be considered for funding – Public Transportation Programs Section, Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department, P.O. Box 2261, Little Rock, AR 72203-2261.
