Smackover sweeps past Lake Village

LAKE VILLAGE - Smackover stayed undefeated in the 8-3A with a pair of lopsided wins over Lake Village on Monday, winning by scores of 26-0 and 13-0.

The Bucks scored 12 in the first and 14 in the second to win the opener.

Tripp Evans drove in four runs, while Daniel Hughes had three RBIs for the Bucks. Beau Burson also had three RBIs while going 2-for-4 at the plate.

Logan Clark went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs, while Dylan Darden and Keiandre Purifoy each went 1-for-2 with two RBIs.

Kaine McKnight finished 1-for-2 with an RBI and Cooper Thurmon went 1-for-1 with a pair of RBIs.

Darden walked one and fanned five over two hitless innings to pick up the win.

In the nightcap, the Bucks scored four in the second and seven in the third to break the game open.

Gage Talley launched a three-run homer to highlight the third, while Drew Stringer went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Weston Smith, Burson, Hughes and Cole Albritton each had one hit and an RBI for Smackover.

Brennan McKnight and Mason Jackson were each 1-for-3.

Evans struck out all three batters he faced in one inning of relief work to pick up the win.
