The Parkers Chapel School District announced Saturday that its board of directors has selected Jana Young as the district's new superintendent. The district announced the decision in a social media post on Saturday.

"After interviewing all applicants and carefully reviewing their qualifications, the PC Board is pleased to announce we have selected our new superintendent, and she has accepted the position," the district announced in the post.

Young will step in to lead the district as PC superintendent John Gross retires. The district board held several special-called meetings last week, including on Friday, March 5:30.

The Hampton School District congratulated Young on the new position in the post, stating "We would like to congratulate our very own Jana Young and wish her the very best in this new venture."

Young is listed as a special education director/fed programs/special projects administrator on the HSD's website; this was confirmed by a HSD official on Saturday.

"[Young] is our special eduction director and federal programs director. She did at one point serve as interim superintendent for the district several years ago. She is well deserving of the position and will do a fantastic job in leading the Parkers Chapel School District," the HSD official said.

PCSD's regular monthly meeting is next scheduled for Monday, March 25 at 5:30 p.m.
