Earlier this month, South Arkansas College knocked off the No. 1 team in the country to win the Region 2 title.
Next week, the Stars could get another shot at the top team in the NJCAA Division II ranks.
SouthArk was tabbed as the No. 17 seed in the 20-team field for the NJCAA Division II Tournament on Tuesday.
The Stars (21-8) will face No. 16 seed Hocking (Ohio) College on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Mary Miller Center in Danville, Ill.
The winner will advance to face No. 1 seed Davidson-Davie (N.C.) Community College on Tuesday, while the loser will play a consolation game on Wednesday morning.
The Hawks (23-6) won the Great Lakes District A championship by topping Bay (Mich.) College 82-80 on Sunday.
Jaden Woods, who had 20 points and seven rebounds for the Hawks, was selected as the tournament’s MVP.
National Park College, which was ranked No. 1 in the country and undefeated until SouthArk downed them 62-60 in the Region 2 championship game, received one of four at-large bids.
The Nighthawks are the No. 5 seed and will take on No. 12 seed Johnson County (Kan.) Community College in the opening round.
