Arkansas Supreme Court Justice Wood to speak at Union County Republican Committee meeting

Arkansas Supreme Court Justice Rhonda K. Wood will be the guest speaker at the Union County Republican Committee (UCRC) meeting on Monday, February 5, 2024. Wood is in her 18th year on the judicial bench and just began her 10th year as an Associate Justice on the Arkansas Supreme Court.

The UCRC meets in the second-floor conference room at the Simmons Bank Building, 100 West Grove Street, at 6:00p.m. Refreshments are served at 5:00p.m. The meeting is free and open to guests. Alderman Frank Hash and candidate Jill Weinischke will be introduced as candidates for City Council.

Justice Wood is a candidate for Chief Justice of Arkansas Supreme Court and serves for many legal organizations.

She is Chair of the Supreme Court's Commission on Children, Youth, and Families; started the 1st Juvenile Drug Court in Arkansas; chaired Judicial Education, Juvenile Drug Committee, Supreme Court Liaison to Circuit Judges Committee and has also served or is serving on 11 other Supreme Court committees including the Advisory Council for Children's Advocacy Centers of Arkansas. Governor Asa Hutchinson appointed her to several child welfare and juvenile justice boards.

Justice Wood earned her B.A. with distinction in politics, magna cum laude, from Hendrix College, and her J.D. from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Bowen School of Law with highest honors.
