Fourth-inning rally lifts Parkers Chapel to win

PARKERS CHAPEL - Seven is considered to be a lucky number, and it played a significant role for Parkers Chapel on Monday.

Seven players racked up at least one hit, as the Trojans scored double digits for the seventh time this season to knock off Riverdale Academy (La.) 17-2.

The Trojans ended the game via the sportsmanship rule by scoring seven runs in the fourth inning, and Parkers Chapel had seven players collect at least one RBI.

Cameron Mayo went 2-for-2 with a double, two walks and an RBI for the Trojans, who had eight hits in the win.

Paytin Greene, Chandler Boykin and Hayden Primm each had two RBIs.

Kaine Greene, JT Ingram and Drew Mason picked up one RBI apiece for PC.

Dyson Dougan, Paytin Greene, Kaine Greene, Ingram, Primm and Mason all had singles for Parkers Chapel.

The Trojans were also the recipients of 12 walks in the contest.

In addition to his two-hit game, Mayo was the winning pitcher, finishing with a three-hitter with only one of the two runs he allowed being earned. He struck out eight and didn’t issue any walks.

The Trojans (13-4), who won for the eighth time in their last 10 games, were scheduled to host West Side Christian on Tuesday, but the game was postponed due to rain.

The Trojans are slated to return to 8-2A play on Friday with a road tilt at Gurdon.
