Fundraiser set for Saturday

Women Moving Forward, a local nonprofit organization, will host its annual plate lunch sale fundraiser on Saturday, June 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 301 E. Hillsboro St. Plates cost $10 and will include chicken, baked beans, potato salad, rolls and desert provided by Willie Earl and Danny Nelson.

Dance planned Saturday

A dance for seniors age 50 or older will be held at Champagnolle Landing, 910 Champagnolle Rd., on Saturday, June 3, from 7-10 p.m. Mike Sullivan will perform live music.

Sen. Stone, Burchfield to speak at Republican meeting

Arkansas Sen. Matt Stone and Thomas Burchfield, an employee in the Office of the Arkansas State Auditor, will be gust speakers during a regular meeting of the Union County Republican Committee on Monday, June 5.

Stone will share information from the 2023 legislative session from his perspective as a freshman state senator. Stone represents Calhoun, Dallas, Ouachita and Union counties, as well as a portion of Grant County. Burchfield leads the Great Arkansas Treasure Hunt, a program to return unclaimed property and money to their rightful owners; he will speak about the program.

The meeting will be held in the second-floor meeting room in the Simmons Bank building, 100 W. Grove St. The UCRC meets the first Monday of each month, and meetings are open to guests and potential members. A 5 p.m. social hour is also open to guests for a $5 minimum donation to the UCRC.
