South Arkansas Symphony to perform Snow White June 11

The South Arkansas Symphony is continuing its season by collaborating with the Arkansas Festival Ballet for a production of Snow White on June 11 at the El Dorado Municipal Auditorium, 100 W. Eighth St.

Matinee and evening performances of the storybook ballet are scheduled for 2 and 7 p.m., respectively.

A "Once Upon a Time", meet-and-greet event will be held at 1 p.m., just prior to the matinee production. The ballet troupe will mingle and take photos with guests.

Sara Coffman, executive director of SASO, is especially encouraging families with children to come out "for this exciting adventure."

Coffman explained that the original production will include the traditional characters of the classic children's fairy tale, with additional roles to complement the storyline.

"Snow White" will also feature animated elements, including a floating magic mirror, a poisoned apple and bubbling cauldron.

SASO music director Kermit Poling composed the original score for the ballet and Rebecca Miller, owner/academy and artistic director of the Arkansas Academy of Dance and the Arkansas Festival Ballet, choreographed the show.

"(Stalcup) has captured all the essence of Snow White and Prince Charming with all (their) beauty and wonder," Coffman said.

The 40-person cast is made up of guest artists, dancers from the Arkansas Festival Ballet Company and other talent who was selected during an audition process.

"Snow White" is not the first collaborative effort between SASO and the AFB. In 2019, the groups teamed up for a holiday performance of "The Nutcracker".

Tickets are $25 each for general admission to both performances. Tickets may be purchased online at SouthArkansasSymphony.org or by calling Coffman at 870-310-2244.

Also, stop by the SASO office at 314 E. Oak St.
