An El Dorado man remained hospitalized Friday for injuries he sustained during a shooting in which 60 rounds were reportedly fired at a local apartment complex.

Three males, two of them juveniles, face a slew of felony charges in connection to the incident, which occurred Thursday at The Vineyards of El Dorado, 550 Beverly Drive.

Seven vehicles were also damaged by bullets, El Dorado police said.

Capt. Scott Harwell, of the El Dorado Police Department's Criminal Investigative Division, said 18-year-old Demontrae Norman was shot twice in a hail of gunfire.

Norman was transported by ambulance to Medical Center of South Arkansas and he was later transferred in stable condition to a medical facility in Texarkana for further treatment, which was expected to include surgery.

Police said they did not have information on Norman's condition late Friday afternoon.

Ricky J. Campbell, 20, and the 17-year-old boys, at least one of whom is from Camden, are in custody for their alleged roles in the shooting.

Lt. Jarod Primm, also of the EPD's CID, said one of the juveniles will be adjudicated as an adult, adding that the boy has already been charged as an adult in an unrelated case in Ouachita County.

Campbell and the boy are scheduled for first appearance hearings Monday in 35th Judicial District Court.

The other boy could also be charged as an adult in the shooting, Primm said.

Campbell and the boys were arrested Thursday for first-degree attempted murder, terroristic act, aggravated assault, possession of firearms by certain persons, engaging in violent criminal group activity, felony with a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, fleeing on foot and first-degree criminal mischief -- all felony offenses.

The boys face an additional count each of a minor in possession of a handgun.

At approximately 12:30 p.m. Thursday, police responded to a report of multiple shots fired at The Vineyards and that someone had been injured.

Harwell said Norman ran into his apartment after he had been struck by bullets and called for help.

By the time officers arrived, Campbell and the 17-year-olds had fled the scene on foot, leading police on a nearly four-mile chase, mostly through wooded areas.

Harwell said the trio ran through the woods behind El Dorado High School and headed toward LanXess on Haynesville Highway/Arkansas 15.

The boys crossed the highway and were apprehended near a high line on the east side of the highway.

Campbell was taken into custody near LanXess, Harwell said. The trio was apprehended with assistance from the Union County Sheriff's Office.

Police reported seeing the juveniles throw guns, a pistol and an AK-47 rifle, to the ground as they ran.

Officers recovered the guns, along with 60 spent shell casings from the scene of the shooting.

Harwell noted that the casings came from three guns, each of a different caliber.

None of the casings were fired from the AK-47, which, officers determined, had malfunctioned, he said, adding that officers did not recover a third gun.

Seven vehicles in the parking lot of The Vineyards were were struck by bullets, police said.

A search warrant was executed at Norman's residence but Harwell said he did not yet know if investigators recovered any evidence from the apartment.

He said investigators had not established a motive for the shooting or the relationship between Norman and the suspects, citing the ongoing investigation.

"We know they knew each other but as far as an actual motive, we do not know," Primm said.

Harwell also said investigators do not yet know if Norman fired any shots during the incident.

"We're still in the process of interviewing witnesses," he said.
