Lady Trojans sixth in state tourney

SALEM - Parkers Chapel's Bella Frisby finished as state runner-up Monday and led the Lady Trojans to a sixth-place finish in the 2A State Girls Golf Championships, held at Turkey Mountain. Frisby shot 88 to earn All-State honors as well qualify for the Overall Tournament.

Conway Christian won the championship, shooting 295 to beat Salem (302), Melbourne (306), Quitman (308), Horatio (320) and Parkers Chapel (322) in the 12-team tournament.

Makenzie Morgan shot 114 and Reaux McAuliffe shot 120 for the Lady Trojans. Parkers Chapel's team features all sophomores.

Conway St. Joseph's Presli Webb shot 83 to win medalist. Horatio's Cadee Glasgow finished with a 92.

"I am very excited and honored to finish state runner-up, and I am happy to have the opportunity to compete at state overall," said Frisby. "I also want to thank my coach Mona Williams for her time and dedication and for always believing in me."

Rounding out the team totals was Mansfield (357), Poyen (378), Magnet Cove (381), Mountainburg (382), Buffalo Island Central (387) and Rector (403).
