The Overall Tennis Tournament begins Monday at Burns Park in Little Rock. If Bella Frisby sleepily walks onto the tennis court with a golf club in her hand, it would be understandable.

The Parkers Chapel sophomore has gone back and forth from golf to tennis and visa versa all month, earning All-State honors in both sports.

Frisby teamed with Kallie Martin to win the 2A state doubles championship on Tuesday. That was after she was runner-up medalist in the 2A State Golf Tournament and shot 73 to help her team win the district golf title. On Thursday, she competed in the Overall Golf Tournament.

She’s also managed to squeeze in practice for the upcoming basketball season.

“I’m mentally drained and physically drained but I’m still super excited to go and play in the Overall Tennis Tournament,” Frisby said. “I know there’s going to be some good competition. I think it’ll be a fun experience.”

Frisby and Martin received a difficult opening opponent in Pulaski Academy’s Jaymie Angtuaco and Julienne Angtuaco. The sisters won the 4A State championship, breezing through the bracket while dropping a total of five games in their three matches.

Parkers Chapel’s Rebekah Hardy and Madison Sullivan will face Episcopal Collegiate’s Samantha DeLuca and Taylor Lee, 3A doubles runners-up.

The Trojans’ Jackson Dison, the 2A state boys’ singles champion, will draw Saven Cashman of Haas Hall Fayetteville. Cashman is the 3A singles runner-up.

“The Overall competition is very tough. We’ll try our best. Hopefully, we can compete with them,” said PC coach Casey Rapp, whose team of multi-sport athletes will face some year-around tennis standouts.

“They look at it as a reward. It’s fun for them to go and play some really high-level competition. I’m just hoping they all play their best. I know we’re all tired from last week.”

Parkers Chapel won both the boys’ and girls’ 2A State Tennis championships last week in Greers Ferry.

For Frisby, it was her second doubles state title. As a freshman, she teamed with Ali Looney to win the championship and earn a trip to the Overall.

“There are some real teams when you go up there,” she said of the Overall experience. “They are really good and you have to be really on your game to compete.”

The same could be said for the Overall Golf Tournament, where she showed signs of fatigue, scoring a 95 after shooting 73 at the district tournament.

“I can’t imagine how tired she’s got to be,” said Rapp. “I was tired and I didn’t even play. But she’ll be O.K. She’s had the weekend to rest.”
