R&B singer Jacquees is set to perform in El Dorado on Saturday, July 24 at the Municipal Auditorium.

Event promoter Tay Brown said the performance is one he’s been working to secure for quite some time.

“I’ve been a local promoter here for; been doing shows and events for seven years. With this Jacquees show, I’ve been trying to get him here for two years… He’s so big and popular that’s he hard to get ahold of. After reaching out to him a year-and-a-half ago, it was a no-go. From there, I was reaching out to promoters in Atlanta, but the pricing he was asking was just not right for this market… I was able to negotiate the price and see a little daylight with it,” Brown said.

Brown briefly considered moving the show to Little Rock, but in the end decided to stick with his home town.

“I feel like with this show, I can reach out to any and everybody to come to this show… With Jacquees being who he is, I said ‘let’s do some R&B here in our own home town,’” Brown said.

With the concert officially booked and his own personal time and money invested, Brown is now out promoting the show, hoping to spread awareness about the show and bring a crowd to welcome the singer to El Dorado.

Jacquees is an R&B singer from Decautur, Georgia, currently signed to Cash Money Records, according to the label’s website.

The artist has released two studio albums - “4275” and “King of R&B” - along with a number of mixtapes.

“4275,” which came out in 2016, was certified Gold by the RIAA.

Jacquees has also had several successful singles, including 2016’s “B.E.D,” which remained on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for seven weeks and rose to ninth place in the US R&B charts; and “You,” released in 2018, which hit fourth place on the U.S. R&B charts.

He’s also collaborated with many well-known singers and rappers including Young Thug, Lil Baby and Trey Songz.

For the July concert, Brown and his team are offering one opening slot to a local artist, giving the chosen performer the chance to prime the crowd before Jacquees takes the stage. Brown posted on Facebook last Friday about the offer, asking artists who wish to vie for the slot to post a video to be considered for the slot.

“[We] decided to give one local [R&B] artist a free slot because it’s a big opportunity. This management team along with [Jacquees] himself could hear it, and it could always just take one person to give you that chance,” Brown said.

DJ Big B from Moroe, Louisiana and El Dorado’s Destiny Rogers, aka DJ Dezz, will be the DJs for the concert.

Tickets are currently on sale on the website Eventbrite and will also be available at the door on July 24. The concert will be for ages 18 and up.
