Slaughter appears in court

Judge Robin Carroll oversaw a lengthy criminal docket on Tuesday, April 20 in the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit, Division 4 court. The court session was conducted on the virtual meeting platform Zoom.

Brandon Slaughter, who was arrested on September 1, 2020 and charged with sexual indecency with a child; distributing, possessing, or viewing matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child; and computer child pornography, appeared briefly before the court alongside his defense attorney, Gary McDonald.

McDonald informed the court of his ongoing efforts to review “alleged sexual videos” associated with the case.

Having “reached the conclusion” that his possessing those videos “is a violation of federal law,” McDonald expressed a desire to review them at the El Dorado Police Department or the prosecuting attorney’s office.

Deputy Prosecutor for the 13th Judicial District Carla Gibson stated an intention to view the material at the police department and “see if I can get material [the defense] requested to possibly resolve the case.”

Slaughter’s arrest occurred after he allegedly “pulled his pants down and began pleasuring himself” in front of a group of children at a bus stop.

The probable cause affidavit further states that following an interview with EPD investigators, Slaughter gave consent for officers to search his phone and investigators allegedly “located multiple pornographic videos and pictures depicting children.”

It is unclear if these are the same videos mentioned in court last week.

Slaughter will appear in court again on May 18.
