Lady Wildcats begin track season with runner-up finish

TEXARKANA – El Dorado opened up the track season at the Doc Walker Relays in Texarkana on Thursday. The Lady Wildcats finished as the runner-up in girls while DeAndra Burns Jr., won two events to lead the Wildcats.

El Dorado’s Carshaila Rozier won both the 200 and high jump as the Lady Wildcats totaled 117 points, finishing behind Texarkana (138.5). Magnolia (111), DeQueen (102), Ashdown (46.5) and Hope (18) rounded out the competition.

Rozier won the 200 in a time of 26.36 and cleared 5-2 in the high jump.

Davin James was second in the high jump and fifth in the 300 hurdles. Breyonna Steward was second in the 400. D’Aujhene Dade and D’Aja Dade finished second and fourth, respectively, in the 100. Jordan Smith was third in the 400. Kamya Bryant was third in the shot. Eliza Brewster was fifth in both the 1,600 and the 3,200. Erica Moore was sixth in both the shot and the discus. Kharmen Modica was sixth in the 300 hurdles. Shaleaya Easter was sixth in the 800. Anastasia Brock finished sixth in the 100.

El Dorado’s boys scored 78 to place behind Magnolia (120), Texarkana (108) and Nashville (96). The Wildcats tied DeQueen and Ashdown with 78.

Burns won the 200 in a time of 22.46 and the 400 in a time of 50.81. Burns ran the anchor on the first place 400-meter relay, teaming with Sharmon Rester, PJ Denkins and Jackie Washington.

Jadon Cunningham was fourth in the 400. Takoi Steward was fourth in the discus. Rester was fifth in the 100. Dylan Avant was sixth in the 800. Eloy Rodriguez finished sixth in both the 1,600 and 3,200.
