El Dorado police are investigating two separate terroristic acts that were reported earlier this week and involved gunfire that resulted in damage to vehicles and houses.

Officers responded to reports of gunshots on June 8 and 10. No injuries were reported.

The first call came in at 1:28 a.m. June 8, when a 34-year-old woman told police that someone fired shots at her house in the 1200 block of North Miles.

The woman and a witness who was inside the residence at the time said shots rang out while they were in a back bedroom on the east side of the residence and the living room on the west side of the residence, respectively.

The witness said he was watching TV at the time and he dove onto the floor upon hearing gunfire.

When the shooting stopped, the witness said he looked out of the window and saw a dark-colored truck speeding away from the scene.

Police said there were five bullet holes on the west side of the house — three in the window and two in the siding material that led underneath the house.

Two bullets tore through the TV and sofa in the living room before stopping near the kitchen cabinets and a third pierced a cabinet in the kitchen, police said.

Officers recovered bullet fragments next to the sofa and a bullet from the kitchen. The witness told officers that he had found the bullet behind the sofa and placed it the kitchen.

The woman and witness told officers they did not know why the North Miles residence was targeted in the shooting.

At approximately 1:35 a.m. June 10, officers were called to the 900 block of East Oak in reference to multiple shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with a woman who said she heard approximately 15 gunshots that were fired in two volleys about 10 seconds apart.

She said an initial round of five shots was followed by 10 more shots that were fired at the house next door. She said she then heard a vehicle speeding away from the scene, heading west.

Officers said they walked next door to speak to the complainant’s neighbor(s) and as they reached the neighbor’s driveway, they noticed that the rear windshield was shattered in a car that was parked in the driveway.

At least three bullets had struck the back of the car, police said, noting that one had shattered the back windshield.

Police said another bullet entered the trunk and there was a bullet hole just above the license plate.

Eight, 40-caliber shell casings and broken glass were in the street in front of the residence, police said.

A 44-year-old woman at the residence told officers she was asleep and did not hear anything.

Officers said the woman made statements indicating that she had taken medication that made her drowsy.

While speaking with the woman, police said they noticed that a bullet had pierced a front window on the southwest side of the house.

Eight, 9mm shell casings that were near the front door indicated an exchange of gunfire between someone in the house and in a vehicle in the street in front of the residence, police said.

The woman’s niece said she heard at least 10 gunshots but did not know “where (the shots) came from” and the woman’s son told officers he was asleep and did not hear anything.

After the woman consented to a search of the residence, police recovered bullet fragments inside a laundry basket near the window that had been struck by a bullet.

Officers said they did not find a gun inside the house.
