Robinson, Lady Bucks rip Drew Central

SMACKOVER - Smackover made quick work of Drew Central, 16-0, Monday in 3A-8 action. Senior Karis Robinson threw a perfect game in three innings, striking out six of the nine batters she faced.

The Lady Bucks, who improved to 20-2 overall and 9-0 in league play, will travel to Parkers Chapel today.

Robinson didn’t allow a ball out of the infield in the game.

Smackover scored 16 runs in the first inning, sending 21 batters to the plate. The Lady Pirates walked three batters and hit three more in the inning.

“I was proud of the way Karis pitched, number one,” said Smackover coach Dennis Steele. “And also really proud of the way our batters had more patience at the plate. Even though we don’t want to walk, they took some walks. I thought we showed a lot of patience.”

In the first, Gabbi Kelly reached on an error and scored on a single by Mackenzie Preston. Robinson walked before Malorie Pullin hit an RBI single. Lindy Bates and Brea Boyce were both hit by pitches with Boyce getting the RBI. Reese McKinnon drove in a run with a fielder’s choice. Hannah Parker walked in a run. Claire Schibler singled in a run. Kelly was hit by a pitch, plating a run. Preston walked in a run. Pullin, Boyce, McKinnon and Preston would all single in runs. Hannah Parker added a two-run single and Bates drove in a run with a walk.

Preston was 2-for-2 with three RBI. Pullin was 2-for-3 with two RBI. Parker drove in three runs. The Lady Bucks had 10 hits in the game.
